This Finescale Razorfish was one of the first creatures I spotted at Anilao. I was setting up my camera when he wandered along. I suppose he was curious about the creature who had dropped into his neighborhood. These fish are pretty widespread, throughout the Indian Ocean and in the Western Pacific, north to Japan and south to Sydney Harbor. They reportedly dine on small invertebrates, on the sand and seagrass bottoms they inhabit. Are the fearsome fangs used to grab these prey animals? Do the remarkable eye colors help with sighting prey?
