Whip-Coral Shrimp: Pontonides ankeri

Here and there among the sandy plains of the Maricaban Strait rise single strands of whip coral. Perfectly-camouflaged shrimp make these strands their homes, feeding on the plentiful food that drifts past. This individual has captured a delicious blob, and rises from its usual position hunkered against the coral to devour it.
